#shanrunsacrossamerica day 4. 39.48 miles.
This afternoon was a challenging environment, nearly 100 degrees and lots of uphill as we enter the Sierra foothills. Felt great though, stronger now than I was on Tuesday.
Excitement of the day: Ran into a police standoff with a man with a gun in a RV in Oakdale. I was less than half a block away when the cops started firing! Apparently “less than lethal” rounds, but they sound the same as live rounds. Was in the middle of Oakdale and everyone was running. Wild.
Tomorrow we start our serious accent of the Sierras. Hope to get a good ways up before the heat kicks in.
